From January To April, The Added Value Of Chemical Industry Increased By 4.7% Year-on-year.

From January to April, the added value of chemical industry increased by 4.7% year-on-year.


Data released by the National Development and Reform Commission on May 31 show that in April, the added value of the chemical industry increased by 3.6% year-on-year, and the growth rate fell by 1.2 percentage points year-on-year. In the main products, ethylene production increased by 9.5%, plastic production of primary form increased by 7.5%, synthetic rubber production increased by 6.5%, synthetic fiber production increased by 12%, caustic soda production decreased by 0.9%, soda production increased by 7.7%, chemical fertilizer production decreased by 2.8%, of which nitrogen fertilizer and phosphorus fertilizer decreased by 1.5% and 8.6%, potassium fertilizer increased by 3.5%, pesticide production decreased by 12.5%, rubber tyre output decreased by 0.8%. The output of calcium carbide increased by 1.1%.



From January to April, the added value of the chemical industry increased by 4.7% year-on-year, and the growth rate increased by 1.2 percentage points year-on-year. Among the main products, ethylene production reached 6.75 million tons, an increase of 8.7% over the same period last year. The output of plastics in primary form increased by 7.5% to 29.96 million tons, synthetic rubber by 5.8% to 1.86 million tons and synthetic fiber by 14.2% to 15.7 million tons. The output of caustic soda was 11.79 million tons, an increase of 0.1%, and that of soda was 8.64 million tons, an increase of 2.6%. The output of chemical fertilizer increased by 1.6% to 18.44 million tons, of which nitrogen and potassium increased by 2.3% and 13.8% respectively, while phosphorus decreased by 4.6%. The output of pesticides was 670,000 tons, down 6.2%. The output of rubber tyres was 260.36 million, down 3.6%. The output of calcium carbide was 8.69 million tons, an increase of 2.6%.


Prices of some of the chemicals monitored were higher than last month. In April, the average price of caustic soda (flakes) was 3380 yuan/ton, down 4% from last month and 24.2% from the same period last year, while that of soda was 1980 yuan/ton, up 1.5% from last month, which was the same as the same period last month. Urea 2120 yuan/ton, 6.5% higher than last month, 9.3% higher than the same period last year; domestic diammonium phosphate 2700 yuan/ton, 0.4% lower than last month, 2.3% higher than the same period last year. Calcium carbide 3020 yuan/ton, 4.5% higher than last month, 5.2% higher than the same period last year.
