Congo's copper production rose by 8.7% in nine months, and cobalt production almost doubled.

The Central Bank of the Congo said Thursday (November 22) that copper production in the first nine months of 2018 increased by 8.7% to 908,695 tons compared with the same period last year, while cobalt production jumped 92.5% to 115,116 tons. Congo is the largest copper producer in Africa and the largest cobalt mine in the world. Cobalt is a key component of electric vehicles and other electronic products.
